God of War

The God of War is an action-adventure video game series that started in 2005 for the PS2. Since then, it's become one of the most popular games for PlayStation.

This latest installment, the Spartan warrior Kratos must make peace with his past as the Greek god of war as he raises his son, Atreus. Set in ancient Norway, Kratos and Atreus explore Norse mythology as they go on a quest to lay the ashes of Kratos’ late wife to rest.

God of War features an exceptional storyline, art direction, combat mechanics, and graphics. It has garnered several Game of the Year awards.

The Last Guardian

This third-person action-adventure game combines its genre with puzzle elements. In The Last Guardian, you'll control a boy who works with a half-bird, half-mammal creature named Trico to fight off guards attempting to capture them.

Together they solve puzzles: the boy climbs on structures, carries objects, and operates mechanisms while Trico can reach the areas that the boy cannot. Trico and the boy take care of each other in this way; and the game ends when Trico delivers the boy home.

Red Dead Redemption 2 

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an extremely popular action-adventure game developed by Rockstar Games. Set in the year 1899, you'll play as the outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of Dutch van der Linde’s gang. Morgan must deal with the decline of the Wild West and attempt to survive against rival gangs, government forces, and other adversaries along the way. This story is the prequel to the original Red Dead Redemption, so it also gives us a glimpse at the first game’s protagonist, John Marston.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is presented in first and third-person perspectives. The player can also freely roam in the open world. Enjoy shootouts, heists, hunting, horseback rides, and interacting with characters along the way.  

Horizon: Zero Dawn 

In this 2017 action role-playing game, we follow Aloy, a hunter living in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by robots.

A foundling cast out by her tribe at birth, Aloy journeys through her world of wild machines and nature and tries to uncover her past - and with it, the history of the world she lives in.

She uses weapons, unique skills, and her Focus - an augmented reality device that gives her perceptive abilities - to combat these violent machines and dig deeper into the story.

The game has won several awards for its stunning visuals, vast open world, riveting story, interesting characterisation, and creative combat mechanics. 

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

In this action-adventure first-person shooter game, you'll enter an alternate history. Set in 1961 as if the Nazi's had victory in World War II, you'll step into the shoes of veteran William "B.J." Blazkowicz and fight against the Nazi regime in the U.S. The New Colossus is the eighth entry in the Wolfenstein series.

Played from a first-person perspective, you'll navigate most levels on foot playing through chapters or levels. Choices you make as early as the game’s prologue will alter the game's storyline for you. Some characters and plot points will be replaced throughout the different timelines, so this game never gets stale and has high replayability value. 

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

In the latest installment of the Uncharted series, you play as Nathan Drake, famed - and retired - treasure hunter. He's torn out of peaceful retirement by his brother, who wants help finding long-lost pirate treasure.

This game takes place in the third-person perspective where you'll move through locations, including towns, buildings, and the wilderness, to advance through the storyline. You'll use weapons and stealth to fight off hostile enemies.

What's most intriguing about this game is that it uses artificial intelligence. Your enemies will react to your choices and any combat situation. Your companions are also controlled by artificial intelligence to keep the game feeling as real as possible.  

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition 

In this iconic action-adventure game, you'll control lead character, Lara Croft, from the third-person perspective. The game combines elements of action-adventure, exploration, and survival.

Players will go through camps across land, ziplines, and tracks. As you progress through the game, you'll earn experience points linked with hunting, exploring, and combat so that you can later upgrade. During combat, you'll have the ability to free-aim Lara's bow and the guns you find on your journey. You'll also have the option to engage in close combat and perform stealth skills that you pick up.

Tomb Raider also features an online multiplayer mode, allowing players to compete in various maps. In each match, there will be two enemy teams with three types of games to compete in, with five different maps. 

Valkyria Chronicles: Remastered

Valkyria Chronicles is a tactical role-playing game set in a fictional version of Europe loosely based on the early years of World War II. The continent is dominated by the autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance and a group of democracies known as the Atlantic Federation.

In the midst of war, players anticipate an impending invasion of Gallia, a neutral country. You take control of a unit of Gallian Militia, composed of characters with specific roles and skill sets. As the story progresses, your growing team joins the resistance to the invasion and defends Gallia.  

Sudden Strike 4: Complete Collection 

This real-time tactics game is set in European World War II. In single-player mode, you can choose to ally with the Germans, the Soviet Union, or the Allied Forces, and play out their respective campaigns. Each campaign has over 20 missions, all based on real-life WWII battles and invasions. In this game, you'll have to rely heavily on strategy along with your available skills and limited units. 

XCOM 2

XCOM 2 is a turn-based tactics game set in the year 2035, where you'll have to fight aliens and deal with extraterrestrial council nations. In this game, you'll assume the role of the Commander, who has been rescued from the aliens. It's up to you to launch an attack and beat the aliens back before they assume more control of the world.

XCOM 2 is played from a top-down perspective with turn-based tactics. This means that players move their units around a map and attack enemy units. The whole game is dependent on timed missions and completing objectives such as rescuing a friendly unit, destroying an enemy resource, and others.

You can also play against your friends using the game’s one-versus-one multiplayer mode.
